Pune, September 25, 2025: To combat rising electricity bills due to air conditioning in hot summer months, 18,694 Pune households have opted to install rooftop solar projects under the Prime Minister’s Suryaghar Scheme, effectively reducing their electricity bills to zero. These households have collectively received ₹151 crore in government subsidies, and the scheme has so far generated 90.62 megawatts of clean energy.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Suryaghar Scheme aims to make domestic electricity consumers self-reliant and free from monthly electricity bills. Across India, the scheme has enabled a generation capacity of 5,889 MW, while in Maharashtra, 291,811 homes have adopted the system, generating 1,100 MW.
