A former Miami-Dade police officer has been arrested in Florida after authorities say he used his old badge to impersonate law enforcement.

Paul Fluty, 39, was stopped this week by Volusia County deputies on Shepherd Avenue in Deltona after they were called for a man parked in a driveway looking for a little girl, according to NBC affiliate WFLA .

Bodycam video shared by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office shows Fluty in the driver's seat of an SUV parked in the driveway of a home when he is approached by a responding deputy.

Fluty says he's with Miami-Dade and working with the U.S. Marshals to find a missing girl whose phone had pinged in the area. Then, he tells them that he is not in a marked patrol car because the missing child “runs from the cops."
