(CNN) - The White House is calling for an investigation into an escalator incident at the United Nations on Tuesday.
President Donald Trump and the First Lady were on the escalator when it abruptly stopped during their arrival at the UN General Assembly.
On social media, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the situation needs to be investigated to determine if someone purposefully turned the escalator off.
A spokesperson for the UN says a built-in safety mechanism was triggered, causing it to stop.
Trump further escalated calls for an investigation on Wednesday.
He cited three incidents - a bad teleprompter, audio issues and the escalator - claiming the “triple sabotage” was deliberate.
