Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson appears on track to be ready for the start of the regular season following a lower-body injury that caused him to miss training camp.
Edvinsson joined the team for practice Thursday and participated in all the drills, but coach Todd McLellan isn’t certain when/if he’ll be available for a preseason game.
“Not quite (ready) yet, but the fact that he was out there skating today … I mentioned in camp, it’s not overly serious,” McLellan said. “He’s actually on the ice quicker than I thought he might be, but we’re not going to risk anything. But he’s progressing well.”
Veteran Travis Hamonic has been filling in at the spot Edvinsson usually occupies alongside Albert Johansson.
