LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Funeral arrangements have been released for Jefferson County Sheriff John Aubrey who died this week at age 86.

Aubrey, who served as sheriff for 27 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

His visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church on Blankenbaker Parkway.

The funeral service will be the next day, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the same church.

His burial will be directly after the service at St. Michael Cemetery.

All of these are open to the public.

"We share this information so that those who wish to honor Sheriff Aubrey's life and service may do so," Lt. Col. Carl Yates said.

Earlier this year, Aubrey announced he would not seek an eighth term. He was first elected in 1998.
