The Labour Government has unveiled a £292m funding boost for struggling high streets and deprived communities .
Council areas will receive the cash to spend on transforming neighbourhoods hit by Tory austerity .
The funding is part of a UK-wide programme backed by the Prime Minister to regenerate areas across the UK in need of extra investment .
Instead of passing the funding to the SNP Government, the Labour-run Scotland Office will allocate the money directly to communities.
The cash injection is based on two new funding streams.
The ‘Pride in Place’ programme involves sharing £280 million among fourteen communities in twelve Scottish local authorities.
