COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - To mark the one year anniversary of Helene’s massive impact on East Tennessee, WVLT is releasing After Helene: Looking Back, Looking Ahead on the WVLT streaming app.

The hour-long special takes a look at the storm’s record-breaking flooding, which brought destruction to places like Newport, Hartford, Cocke County and other parts of the Volunteer State.

WVLT’s Whitney Turner sat down with Cocke County leaders like Mayor Rob Mathis, EMA Director Joe Esway and Sheriff CJ Ball to talk about the recovery effort and lessons learned since the flood.
