Canada Post has been instructed to ease its delivery standards, including frequency of door-to-door mail delivery, to “stabilize” the Crown corporation’s financial situation, the minister of government transformation, public services and procurement, Joël Lightbound, announced on Thursday.
“The situation is clear: Canada Post is insolvent,” he said in a press conference.

One of the recommendations that the minister said will be implemented is adjusting weekly mail delivery to two or three days.
He said the government is withdrawing the requirement to deliver to every address five days a week, as households only receive two letters per week on average.
