SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane city leaders say they’re constantly tweaking their homelessness plan – in fact, they told KREM 2 Wednesday they’ll be announcing some new additions as soon as next week.

Boise’s former mayor is on his way back to the Treasure Valley but not before sitting down with Mayor Lisa Brown to offer some advice. He thinks there’s a missing piece to Spokane’s homelessness plan.

Spokane’s comprehensive plan to address homelessness is ever-evolving by borrowing ideas from major cities like Denver and Houston. But one former official from closer to home thinks Spokane should borrow from his playbook.

“You have a city with great bones," said former City of Boise Mayor Dave Bieter. "At the same time, I was a little taken aback by the street-level camping and open drug use.”
