The widow of a man killed last week in a wrong way, head-on collision on State Route 347 is asking the community for help bringing his remains back to Mexico.

Imelda Ocano, 59, of Hidden Valley, said her husband, Jose de Jesus Montoya Munoz, wished to be laid to rest in his native Jalisco, Mexico.

“On Sept. 19, my husband Jesus ‘Chuy’ Montoya tragically passed away in a car accident on SR 347,” Ocano wrote in a $5,000 crowdfunding campaign launched this morning. “We are trying to raise money for funeral costs and to honor his wish to take his remains home to Guadalajara.”

Ocano is a longtime card dealer at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino at John Wayne and Ak-Chin Parkways where the wreck occurred. In 2019, she was honored by the casino for 25 years of service .
