A woman was killed in an overnight domestic shooting in east Birmingham.

East Precinct officers were dispatched at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a person shot at a home in the 1100 block of Kiser Road.

When they arrived, officers approached the residence and were told that an injured female and the male shooter were still inside.

Officers entered the home and found the woman unresponsive from suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was located in a nearby bedroom, also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, said Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene and pronounced the female victim dead. Her name has not yet been released.

The man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
