Morristown West took all it could handle in a 3-1 (16-25, 25-9, 25-22, 25-21) win over winless Cocke County.

The Lady Trojans (5-8, 4-5 District 2-AAA) started slow but regained control after a dominant second set. The Lady Red (0-18, 0-10) nearly pushed them to a fifth set, but West overcame a 19-14 deficit in the fourth set to take the match.

“I am proud of the fight,” head coach Lindsey Barnett said. “They turned it around. They lit a fire and kept that going and played very intentional. They played with more of a competitive composure. So that’s what we needed.”

After uncharacteristic errors led the Lady Trojans to a 25-9 loss in the first set, Barnett found a spark in her leaders.
