LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - September 25 is the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims.
The Lexington’s Lyric Theatre will open and host those whose loved ones have been murdered. The annual event is called “Walk a Mile in Our Shoes.”
Ricardo Franklin, the community outreach coordinator for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, says the gathering can be therapeutic.
“It’s a gathering to come and talk about our loved ones, have an open space, make others feel welcome and really embrace each other,” Franklin said. “I would say it’s almost therapeutic for not only myself but for them as well, it’s a chance to really express your thoughts and opinions.”
