Journalist and author Lauren McKeon will be the keynote speaker Nov. 1 at a fundraising dinner in aid of Three Oaks Foundation and its support of survivors of intimate-partner violence.

Entitled “Beyond the Folding Chair: An Evening with Lauren McKeon,” it will be held at The Belleville Club.

The evening, which is supported by both the venue and the City of Belleville, marks the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. For more than 40 years, Three Oaks has given safe shelter and support to women and children in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

McKeon has worked as a writer and editor for several major Canadian magazines and is the executive editor of non-fiction at Harper Collins Canada.

She has written three books – Women of the Pandemic, No More Nice Girls
