KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe said Thursday that it is now up to Kansas City leaders to finalize a plan to keep the Chiefs in Missouri.

Governor Kehoe has already signed the state's financial incentives to cover half the cost of renovations and construction for the Chiefs' stadium. The remaining costs may require a local tax, which will be voted on by Jackson County residents.

"I think the Chiefs are definitely interested in making sure that, along with the state's package that we did in a special session in early June, that Jackson County comes through with the piece that will be needed on their end," Kehoe said.

Kehoe has hinted that a decision on the stadium could come in the next couple of months, although the team has not announced a formal timeline.
