INDIANAPOLIS — Downtown Indianapolis Alliance, formerly Downtown Indy Inc., released its "2025 State of Downtown" report charting the livability, development and investment progress of the Mile Square.

The report finds that the six square miles of downtown account for 22% of the annual tax revenue generated in Marion County.

Downtown residency has climbed to more than 30,000 as 43% of those Hoosiers living within a mile of Monument Circle identify as Gen Z or Gen Alpha, with more than 60% possessing bachelor’s or post-graduate degrees.

The number of downtown restaurants, coffee shops and bars is in excess of 400, while residents list access to arts, culture and amenities as the main drivers of their decisions on where to live.
