ARCHER, Fla. (WCJB) - Former city commissioner, Jonie White, warned Wednesday night that Archer is “losing the battle,” raising fresh concerns about the town’s finances and operations during a tense budget meeting that also included calls from residents for outside oversight.
White, who served the city for 28 years, told the commission during public comment that the code to an employee entrance had not been changed in at least five years and that former employees, family members of staff, cleaning personnel, and possibly some past and present commissioners had access. She also stated that the city lacks a protocol for verifying deposits and accounts, and alleged that Duke Energy cut power to two city locations over unpaid bills. White resigned from the commission earlier this month.
