MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The college basketball preseason calendar has seen frequent changes in recent years to the point where the official start of preseason drills is no longer a day of pomp and circumstance. Gone are the days of Midnight Madness practices in front of large crowds where all teams across the country began drills on the same day.
Ross Hodge led the Mountaineers through their first official preseason practice Tuesday in the first of 30 practices that can be scheduled in a span of 42 days prior to the season opener. Prior to Tuesday, the coaching staff had an eight-hour weekly window to work on the court with the team.
