MAINE, USA — The U.S. Department of Education notified the University of Maine System this month that it would be discontinuing funding to support Upward Bound programs at two campuses as of Sept. 30.
The TRIO federal funding is being discontinued for the University of Southern Maine's Veterans Upward Bound program and the University of Maine at Farmington's River Valley Upward Bound program, according to UMaine officials.
The USM program helps veterans attend the school and offers services that include helping veterans apply for school, find a career, and learn how to pay and prepare for classes.
