Authorities Thursday released the name of a 55-year-old man whose body was found near an on-ramp to the Ventura (101) Freeway in Encino.

The discovery was made about 6:50 a.m. Saturday at the White Oak Avenue on-ramp to the eastbound freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The on-ramp was shut down minutes after the body was found.

A representative with the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner was dispatched to the scene. The office later identified the man as Roger Courtney Jr., whose place of residence was not disclosed.
