SALADO, Texas — A restaurant owner in Salado shares his three peacocks that have been part of her establishment's family for nearly eight years disappeared last week from their cage.
The birds — named Pepper, Fettuccine, and Alfredo — vanished from the Barton House property sometime Thursday night, leaving behind an empty aviary and a community determined to bring them home.
The story began in 2017 when the owner purchased the Barton House property with a specific vision in mind. Inspired by white peacocks he had seen roaming freely at a restaurant on South Lamar in Austin, he dreamed of creating a similar magical experience for her guests.
"It was always my goal to have some peacocks on property and have them be able to roam around the property," Barton House owner Clinton Harwell expl
