EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The El Paso Police revealed what led up to a shooting involving teenagers at a playground at an apartment complex earlier this week.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex located at the 10700 block of Montana in East El Paso.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a group of five teenagers, between the ages of 15 and 17 years old, drove to the complex to engage in an altercation, according to police.

As the group was walking toward a playground area, another 15-year-old began to fire upon the group, hitting the five teens.

The 15-year-old then fled the scene on foot; however, officers located him a short distance away from the crime scene, according to police.
