BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Metro council members are at a standstill on a plan that could save the city of Baton Rouge millions of dollars.
“Everybody is on board with this,” stated Councilman Aaron Moak. “Everybody knows that something needs to be done. We’ve worked on the hardest plan, the best plan that we can get.”
The idea is to move eligible retirees to a private Medicare Advantage Plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield.
At least one council member has said the move could reduce or even eliminate out-of-pocket costs for primary care, urgent care, and local hospital visits.
Despite Councilman Aaron Moak’s confidence, the plan is still waiting to pass.
“I’m all for it, but making people opt-out vs. opt-in to me is a slick way to force you onto a plan that may not meet your healthcare
