PORTLAND, Maine — A 38-year-old Westbrook woman was seriously injured Thursday morning after a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Portland, police said.

The crash happened at 8:47 a.m. on Skyway Drive as the woman was traveling toward Congress Street, the Portland Police Department said in a news release. The woman's vehicle reportedly struck the tractor-trailer from behind while they were headed in the same direction.

She was brought to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police said speed and wet road conditions are believed to have contributed to the crash. No charges have been filed, police said.

Skyway Drive was closed for about four hours while crews cleared the scene.
