ROCHESTER, Minn.- The recently formed Minnesota Senate subcommittee on Federal Impacts on Minnesotans and Economic Stability visited Channel One Regional Food Bank on Thursday, Sept. 25 to learn more about the current state of food insecurity in southeast Minnesota.

The tour group included Senator Lindsey Port, a DFL board chair from Burnsville, Rochester Senator Carla Nelson who acts as the committee's Republican lead, and several of their colleagues.

The group spoke with Channel One alongside representatives of grocery stores, charities and volunteers who have been affected by recent federal cuts to food assistance programs and who were anticipating an increase in demand once additional cuts to SNAP and new work requirements go into affect.
