FLORISSANT, Mo. ( KMOV /Gray News) - A Missouri man is facing a child kidnapping charge after authorities say he kidnapped a student from an area middle school.

James E. Paulette, 43, is accused of posing as a family member to sign an eighth-grade student out from Cross Keys Middle School on Tuesday.

Court documents stated that Paulette claimed there was a death in the girl’s family and the school allowed him to sign the 13-year-old out even though he was not a relative or known person of the parents.

The student’s parents ended up calling the police when they could not locate their child. Officers said they obtained surveillance video and identified the license plates of the car that drove away from the school.
