CARLETON – New Boston Huron’s volleyball team had a few extra fans for its match against Airport.
Several players from Flat Rock showed up for the late stages of Huron’s five-set battle with Airport on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
“A few of our players are friends with Flat Rock players off the court,” Huron coach Devon Newman said. “Pretty cool to see that in the league between rivals.”
Huron’s friends and rivalry witnessed a great win for the Chiefs.
They rallied after dropping two of the first three sets to pull out a 25-23, 26-28, 16-25, 25-19, 15-10.
“Huge win for sure,” said Newman, a first-year head coach who has guided her squad to a 13-5-1 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Huron League.
Huron is just a game behind co-leaders Flat Rock and St. Mary Catholic Central in the league.
