Three Rivers Ambulance Authority’s board will give Allen County government 30 days’ notice of its intent to end emergency medical dispatch services outside of Fort Wayne.

Joel Benz, the agency’s executive director, said the ambulance authority has continued to provide emergency medical dispatch services for Allen County, despite the county commissioners pulling out of the agreement with the city that governs the agency. The move in January followed months of discussions about the county not compensating the ambulance authority for its services.

Benz said he’s tried to work out a deal with the county and hopes this decision will bring them to the table. Board members Thursday unanimously approved the notice.
