The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:24 p.m. on Thursday for gusty showers until 6 p.m. for Albany, Rensselaer and Washington counties.

Residents can look for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 5:24 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers along a line extending from near Greenwich to near Mechanicville to Latham. Movement was northeast at 35 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Troy, Cohoes, Watervliet, Hoosick Falls, Salem, Green Island, Waterford, Cambridge, Greenwich, Center Brunswick, Hoosick, Lee, Pittstown, White Creek, Easton, Schuylerville, Schaghticoke, Valley Falls, Cossayuna and Schaghticoke Hill.
