JJ Redick already has a contract extension from the Lakers.

Just one year into the job, the former NBA sharpshooter got more years tacked onto his deal despite having three years left on his current contract.

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said Thursday that the extension was “just to make it clear that [Redick’s] the basketball leader in terms of our coaching and on-court performance.”

Pelinka didn’t reveal how many more years Redick had added on to that deal.

Before last season, Redick signed a four-year deal reportedly worth $32 million to become the head coach of the Lakers.
