TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A bicyclist died after a confrontation on The Loop near First and Wetmore in Tucson late Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The Tucson Police Department said Enrique Mercado, 44, was injured in an attack and died at a local hospital.

The TPD confirmed Mercado was riding with a large group near Diamond Street Loop when he got into a confrontation with an unknown suspect. Mercado was injured, and the suspect fled.

In several Facebook posts, the Tucson Night Ride group said Mercado was stabbed in the chest. The group also claimed the suspect may have been homeless.
