NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his loved ones are mourning the loss of a family member.

The 50-year-old racing icon's wife has shared a message on the personal situation.

On Wednesday, Amy Earnhardt put together a special social media post regarding a tragic family loss.

Dale Jr. and Amy's dog, Junebug, died on Tuesday.

She shared the sad news about the passing of their small Pomeranian with her 321,000+ followers on Instagram .

"Yesterday my tiny Junebug made his way over the rainbow bridge. My heart is broken," Amy wrote.

"I know dogs don’t live forever, but we definitely don’t get them long enough.

"I’m going to miss you my sweet boy.

"Fly high and I’ll see you again."
