NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – There is a lack of drug treatment centers in the state of New Mexico, largely caused by the shutdown in 2013 and difficulty finding staff. Treatment centers like the Santa Fe Recovery Center said they've seen an influx of patients trying to access care, forcing them to get creative to meet the growing need. The bottom line is the state needs more clinics, and enough people to staff them.

The Santa Fe Recovery Center said they get people coming in for services from across the state, and even people out of state. "We've seen an increase in the number of individuals seeking our services," Santa Fe Recovery Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. James Besante said. "Not just for detox and residential treatment. But also our expanding outpatient services."
