Penny Wong has used the world stage to launch a bizarre tirade about the future of artificial intelligence (AI) ,and machine learning's potential path to a nuclear apocalypse.
Australia’s Foreign Affairs minister painted the dystopian picture of autonomous weapons escalating global conflict in a bid to secure an Australian seat on the United Nations Security Council.
“AI’s potential use in nuclear weapons and unmanned systems challenges the future of humanity,” she told the UN open debate on Thursday (local time).
“Nuclear warfare has so far been constrained by human judgment, by leaders who bear responsibility and by human conscience.
“AI has no such concern, nor can it be held accountable.”
In her vision of AI-enhanced warfare, technology threatens to escalate conflicts without warn
