CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - New surveillance footage obtained this week by WBTV Investigates captures Decarlos Brown Jr. -- the man charged in the deadly August light rail stabbing -- using the Charlotte light rail system in the hours leading up to the stabbing.
WBTV sorted through footage this week of Brown on the night of Friday, Aug. 22 -- the night he’s accused of stabbing 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska to death on the light rail in Charlotte. The footage is from the Charlotte Area Transit System, known locally as CATS.
In the hours leading up to the deadly stabbing, Brown apparently used Charlotte public transportation to get around the city. Officials said Brown rode a public bus before getting off and riding on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line light rail system.
