BARRE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Vermont Route 15 in Essex Town as well as Quechee Village in Hartford are two places in Vermont that will be safer for walkers and bikers after they were awarded federal grants.

Vermont's Agency of Transportation (VT AOT) said Thursday that they have chosen the recipients of $6 million in grants. The projects include sidewalk-building, pedestrian paths, as well as safety improvements to crosswalks and other facilities. 18 different projects in total are receiving grant funding, including ones in Montpelier, Hinesburg, and Middlebury.

VT AOT awards millions of dollars each year to transportation projects, which includes funding roads and highways for drivers as well as projects for bikers and pedestrians such as those above.
