ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Ellensburg is seeing a positive shift in crime trends, according to a recent report presented by the police chief to the city council.
The report highlighted a decrease in various crime categories last year compared to 2023. Crimes against people were down about 6%. Crimes against property saw a reduction of about 20%. Vehicle thefts dropped significantly by about 70%, mirroring the same decline for domestic violence offenses.
The police chief compared Ellensburg's crime statistics to the statewide trends. While crime rates also decreased across the state, the decline in Ellensburg was notably more substantial.
