BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - For this year’s National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims, several groups and community members met at the MLK Community Center in Baton Rouge to honor loved ones they have lost to homicide.
Each person in attendance today lit a candle representing one family member or friend who was lost to violence. Each flame tells a story—one a mother or grandmother should never have to tell.
“When the pain hits me, I hit the streets even harder, advocating against gun violence,” Cathy Toliver said.
A little over three years ago, Toliver got a call from her daughter that changed her life.
