"Abbott Elementary" star and creator Quinta Brunson's divorce from her estranged husband, Kevin Anik, is on its way to becoming official.

Both parties agreed to an uncontested divorce and to cover attorney fees, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY on Sept. 25. The divorce will be finalized once the judge gives a sign-off.

The Emmy-winning writer and actor, 35, initially filed for divorce in Los Angeles in March after more than three years of marriage. Records show the couple officially separated on Dec. 1, 2024.

The majority of the details of their settlement was not included in the court filings. However, Anik's attorney noted in a filing that the former couple "entered into a postnuptial agreement" that determines how their property will be separated.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Brunson and Anik for comment.

In her March petition, Brunson checked off the oft-cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for seeking a divorce from Anik.

The comedian kept her relationship largely private throughout their marriage, with one notable exception being her Emmys acceptance speech in 2022. The former YouTube creator gave Anik a shoutout after winning a trophy for outstanding writing for a comedy series.

"In case I am not back up here again, I have to thank my mom, my dad, my brothers and sisters … and I need to thank my wonderful husband because he's the most supportive man I've ever known," she said.

In a Bustle feature story published in March, Brunson was candid about the impact of the news of her divorce becoming public knowledge.

"I remember seeing people be like, 'She announced her divorce. I didn’t announce anything," she said.

"I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move. None of us do. I promise you. No one wants [everyone] to know when you buy a house, when you move, when a major change happens in your personal life. It’s just that that’s public record information."
