KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Across the nation Thursday night, people gathered to honor lives taken by violence. Some lost a loved one this year, some many years ago.

For the 8th year, Kansas City Mothers in Charge has hosted a community vigil on Sept. 25, the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.

The organization, founded in 2014 by Rosilyn Temple , encouraged families to come with a photo of their loved one.

“To let them know we remember them. We stand in awe for them. We celebrate them,” Temple said. “Because they was a part of our life as our children and loved ones, but also a part of our community.”
