CNN anchor Abby Phillip clashed with MAGA pundit and podcast host Ben Ferguson on Thursday night after Johnson defended the Trump administration's indictment against former FBI Director James Comey.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Comey on two counts of lying to Congress and obstruction of justice. The former FBI leader said in an Instagram post that he is innocent.

Ferguson compared the indictment of Comey to other MAGA figures like Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, and Jeffrey Clark, all of whom were alleged to have worked with President Donald Trump in an unsuccessful attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

"Welcome to our world!" Ferguson said.

"Do you think it matters that those people did the things they were accused of?" Phillip asked Ferguson.

Ferguson demurred while Phillips pressed him to answer whether the charges levied against Comey should be substantiated by facts.

"Do you think it matters whether the facts support the charges?" Phillips continued. "Because if it matters whether the charges are substantiated or not, you would be just as upset about Michael Flynn lying, about Roger Stone lying, and then getting pardoned, as you are about allegations of James Comey lying. Would you not be?"

"I am angry whenever someone uses the government to go after their political opponents the way that the last administration did it," Ferguson said.
