PEMBERVILLE, Ohio — Lake’s volleyball team capped off an exhilarating three-day stretch with its second five-set win en route to taking control of the Northern Buckeye Conference.

The Flyers used a big finish to the second set, a strong start to the third, and a dominating final set to upend Eastwood 21-25, 27-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-5 in a showdown between the top two teams in the NBC standings on Thursday at Eastwood High School.

“That was pure adrenaline, 100 percent,” Lake coach Amy Vorst said of where her team found the energy for the fifth set. “They were hungry and they knew this was important, and they came out and played well.”
