Eastwood High School opened up District 1-6A play with a solid performance in an 49-13 win vs. Socorro on Thursday night at the SAC 1.
The Troopers have won four straight and are 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district. Socorro is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in district.
Socorro took an early 6-0 lead but the Troopers scored 21 straight points to lead 21-6 at halftime. Quarterback Kingston Jeffries threw two touchdown passes to lead the Troopers first half rally. The Troopers came up with a big fourth down turnover to thwart a potential Bulldogs scoring drive.
The Troopers added four more scores in second half, including an interception return by Noah Williams.
Eastwood is back at home on Friday, Oct. 3 vs. defending district champion Eastlake and Socorro has its bye week on Oct. 3.
