BOSTON, MA – A Roxbury man was arrested late Wednesday night after officers caught him in the act of breaking into a downtown business, police said.
Around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, officers from District A-1 responded to a report of a break-in at Going Bananas, a store located at 65 Salem Street. A caller described a man in a black hoodie and black jeans marked with graffiti attempting to force entry.
When officers arrived, they found a man crouched at the shop’s open doorway, stuffing items into his clothing before trying to walk away. The suspect, identified as Elvin Clayton, 24, of Roxbury, was quickly detained.
A witness told officers Clayton had approached her moments earlier asking for a screwdriver. Police recovered several stolen goods from him, including a sealed box of baseball
