Jack Della Maddalena says he can see himself getting the finish against Islam Makhachev in his first UFC welterweight title defence at the famed Madison Square Garden.

Della Maddalena (18-2) will step into the octagon in New York on November 16 for what is being billed as the fight of the year, as Makhachev (27-1) steps up a weight class to challenge Western Australia’s first UFC champion.

In the middle of his training camp at Willetton’s Scrappy MMA, Della Maddalena declared he was gunning to be the first person to knockout the Russian in a decade.

“I am chasing down another challenge. I look at Islam as a good fighter, a big challenge and one of the best in the world,” he said.
