Playing their third game in the past week, and second in a row, the Sandwich High School boys’ soccer team ran out of gas against a physically tough Martha’s Vineyard team on the island on Wednesday afternoon , September 24 . The Vineyarders scored a late goal for a 1-0 victory over the Knights, ending a two-game unbeaten run.

Sandwich is now 2-4-2 overall on the season after the defeat.

“With some of the player on our team physically down with injuries, and without reserves of the same level to keep the team fresh, we played a more defensive game. We managed to hold them off until the last five minutes,” Coach Dom Aikukaitis said.
