WEST COVINA — West Covina rebounded from last week’s tough loss to San Diego’s Rancho Bernardo with a get-back win against visiting South Pasadena on Thursday, winning 35-14 to finish non-league play.

West Covina sophomore quarterback Elias Irvin threw three touchdown passes and receiver Vance Davis caught two touchdowns and finished with 45 receiving yards. Junior two-way standout Moses Gogue also had a big night with a touchdown catch, 85 receiving yards and an interception.

It wasn’t all through the air. Junior running back Isaac Villescas finished with 101 yards and a touchdown as the Bulldogs improved to 3-2 going into next week’s Valle Vista League opener against Alta Loma.

West Covina held South Pasadena’s top player, senior Trey Freking, to just 64 yards and two touchdowns.
