A top brain research institute has been left in chaos after unproven, anonymous allegations of research misconduct and the suspension of the scientist who pointed colleagues towards the allegations.
Professor Simon Gandevia, a co-founder of NeuRA and its deputy director, was suspended and asked to leave the premises on Wednesday, after he emailed colleagues asking them to look into anonymous allegations of research misconduct against the institute’s CEO, Professor Matthew Kiernan, AM.
This masthead does not suggest there is veracity to the allegations made against Kiernan, only that the allegations exist. Gandevia is not the source of the allegations, which were made anonymously online.
Gandevia was due to leave the institute at the end of the year, as leadership at NeuRA, based at the
