HUNTINGTON — Marshall punter Nathan Totten has been a hometown hero of the special teams unit, averaging over 46 yards per punt.
It’s not the flashiest job, but Totten shines.
“Special teams, you don’t always get the most credit compared to quarterbacks, linebackers and all that,” Totten said. “But we flip the field. Field goals, you make the kicks. Kickoffs are important. You want touchbacks. Special teams plays a big role, and I’m very thankful. I love it here; I’m proud of how far we’ve come.
“We’ve got two freshmen starting – a kicker and a long snapper. I’m proud of them and how far we’ve come.”
Totten, a redshirt sophomore, was a two-time high school all-state selection in Kentucky at Russell High School -- located about 20 miles from Joan C. Edwards Stadium. He made appearances
