PROVIDENCE – The hiring of state General Treasurer James Diossa 's 2022 media consultant, Andrew Roos, to run the state retirement system has sparked controversy within the ranks of retirees who are still fuming over the pension-cutting moves of Roos' former boss, Gina Raimondo.

Roos was hired in a Sept. 17 vote by the state Retirement Board, and since then, an online chatroom for retired state, local and public school employees has been abuzz about his political work for Diossa and his stint as chief of staff for Raimondo while she was treasurer.
